Olfactory memory, Redolence, Smell Reminisce. These and a few others are words that relates to certain smell (especially perfumes) taking me back (literally feeling and having same psychological reactions) to certain times in my life. Happens when I wear specific aftershaves/perfumes. 

The same is same for visual memory. We look at some pictures and we reminisce of the times in those pictures. We think about events that were happening during those times (happy times I hope). Even when our brain, as amazing as they are, can recollect happy/fun/memorable times; being able to have a visual image of those time bring back those feelings/emotions/celebratory moods as though they are happening in the present. That’s the power of photography.
